You play as a Seeker — a customizable character whose origin, stats, and starting relics determine your early playstyle. The game blends real-time exploration with grid-based, turn-initiated combat. Each zone contains combat encounters, interactive puzzles, hidden lore scrolls, and faction-based events. You'll manage stamina, gear weight, resistances, and mental corruption, all of which affect how you survive long expeditions through cursed temples and buried sanctuaries.
Core systems include relic crafting, multi-class builds, companion bonding, and faction alignment. You'll unlock gear via exploration or crafting, with modular slots that affect stats like bleed chance, sand resistance, divine charge, and cooldown recovery. Combat allows for dodge-rolls, timed parries, environmental manipulation (e.g. dropping pillars on enemies), and ultimate abilities tied to the gods you've aligned with. The deeper you go, the more tactical the systems become — terrain effects, light/shadow positioning, and passive curses all play a role.
The game uses stamina-based real-time combat with class-based skill trees. Choose from Paths like Warrior, Ritualist, Shadecaller, or Serpentbound. Each class has unique active abilities, passive nodes, and combo chains. You can respec skills at Sanctum Altars. Boss fights are phase-based with patterns, weak points, and puzzle mechanics.
Collect crafting materials such as Obsidian Shards, Spirit Ash, and Sunsteel. Use these to craft armor, melee weapons, or trinkets with active effects. Relics can be socketed with Runes that modify abilities — e.g. “Bloodloop Rune” gives +10% life leech on curses. You can upgrade or corrupt relics to evolve their properties.
You can recruit up to 3 companions — each with a unique role (e.g. tank, support, DPS) and personal storyline. Your dialogue choices affect their loyalty, which unlocks special combo moves and story events. Permadeath can occur in advanced difficulty tiers, forcing tough moral and strategic decisions.
The game world consists of open “Expedition Zones” connected through the Overworld Map. Each zone has a weather state (e.g. sandstorm, eclipse), environmental threats, and procedurally placed loot and enemies. Exploration rewards players with hidden caches, fast-travel points, and divine shrines for passive buffs.
Your actions are judged by the Pantheon. Align with deities such as Anubis (death), Thoth (knowledge), or Sekhmet (fury) to unlock divine powers and faction-based quests. Opposing factions may restrict access to certain areas or change how NPCs react to you. Divine alignment also influences endings.
Your Sanctum acts as your home base. Upgrade it with facilities like the Apothecary (for potions), the Forge, and the Archive (for skill re-spec and lore). Your camp also generates passive income from expeditions and can be raided if left undefended in higher tiers of play.
